Draft your competency examples and check them before your validators do
Draft each Situation, Action and Outcome for the engineering competency-based assessment against the real character limit, rate yourself, assign validators, and see which minimums and category averages you still miss.
Counted as you type
Each box counts characters including spaces against your regulator's limit, and warns you about blank lines that can push text out of the portal's box.
Checked against the published rules
Minimum ratings, category averages, experience months, how many validators and who may validate: every check names the guide and the section it comes from.
Names stay on your device
Your examples, employers, projects and the names of your validators are stored only in this browser. There is no account, nothing is uploaded, and no AI service ever sees your text.
Regulator profiles
Each profile is data with the source and the date it was read. Limits we could not confirm are marked as unverified, and you can set the live number yourself.
- Ontario (34 competencies). Professional Engineers Ontario. Minimum experience 24 months.
- Alberta (22 competencies). APEGA. Minimum experience 48 months.
- Shared system: BC and five other provinces (34 competencies). Engineers and Geoscientists BC, APEGS (Saskatchewan), Engineers and Geoscientists Manitoba, Engineers and Geoscientists New Brunswick, Engineers PEI, PEGNL (Newfoundland and Labrador). Minimum experience 48 months.
What it is not
- Competency Desk never writes, rewrites or suggests example text. There is no AI, no phrase bank and no autocomplete: every word is yours. Read why the desk writes nothing for you.
- Competency Desk does not determine your assessment outcome; the regulator's assessors decide. The desk shows your own numbers against the published minimums.
- Competency Desk is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to Professional Engineers Ontario, APEGA, Engineers and Geoscientists BC, Engineers Canada or any other engineering regulator.
